Cecily Stewart Habimana is founder and owner of Simply Cecily, a contemporary women’s clothing line that fuses the traditionally stylish nature of West African women with the contemporary flair of American design. The line is known for its use of rich vibrant fabrics and amazing silhouettes, representing a lot of women today who want to express their true selves through their clothing.
Simply Cecily has been featured in several publications and fashion blogs, including Madame Noire, The Examiner and Washington Express, and has appeared at fashion events throughout in Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD and Richmond, VA as well as internationally in Prague. Simply Cecily designs have been worn by American R&B and jazz recording artist Ledisi, vocalist and actress Brandi Burkhardt, Grammy-nominated Maimouna Youssef and Russian fashion model and actress Natalie Gal.
Habimana has worked with the legendary Mary J. Blige and appeared on Fox 5 News. She began teaching sewing classes over 10 years ago and co-founded Sip and Sew DC with Tisha Thorne in 2014. She received her bachelor’s degree from Howard University and her MBA from George Washington University.
